What is a Sleep Number® bed? Unlike traditional mattresses that are made from metal coils and springs, The Sleep Number Bed by Select Comfort™ uses uniquely designed air chambers to provide a gentle cushion of support which can be easily adjusted to your preference for comfort and firmness. In addition, the Sleep Number bed allows couples to individually adjust each side of the bed to the precise comfort level each partner prefers.

Select Comfort beds have the unique feature of allowing you to adjust the firmness of your bed and let you get the best night's sleep possible.  Known as a brand with a popular line of comfortable beds-the Sleep Number beds. Unlike most traditional mattresses, Sleep Number mattresses use specially designed air chambers with gentle support cushions.  The beds can be individually adjusted on each side of the bed to the sleeper's preference for firmness and comfort.

Sleep Number® beds are regularly subjected to in-house Xsensor® pressure point testing to demonstrate the effectiveness of air chamber design versus innerspring construction. The Xsensor® Pressure Mapping System measures the interface pressure between a body and the surface on which it is lying, using a measuring sheet comprised of 684 individual measurement points. A computer-generated pictorial representation reveals how the surface being tested conforms to the body, the location of interfacial pressure points between the surface and the body, and the relative degree of severity of such pressure points. When you adjust your bed to your Sleep Number, these pressure points are either eliminated or greatly reduced.

Your Sleep Number Setting is a calculation based on your height, weight, sleep position and sleep surface preference.

For those who enjoy the feel of memory foam beds, Select Comfort^® now has memory foam mattress options that each provide the ultimate memory foam experience combined with personalized comfort, support and firmness that comes from the adjustability of the bed's air-chamber technology.  Each memory foam mattress features technology to adjust each side of the bed to a SLEEP NUMBER setting between 0 and 100 that matches the exact level of comfort, support and firmness you want with one touch of a button. This means two people can be comfortable on the same mattress and each person is able to adjust their side of the bed for the ideal night's sleep.

The Pump 

Every Sleep Number Bed by Select Comfort™ comes with its own Sleep Number Firmness Control System, a remote-controlled pump that allows you to change the firmness level of your bed
Compact (about the size of a two-slice toaster) and unobtrusive, the pump tucks out of sight under the head of the bed
The electric, forced air pump plugs into a 110-volt outlet and only uses power when making adjustments - and it consumes a mere 60 watts of power
If a loss of electrical power occurs, the firmness level of your mattress will be retained; it will not deflate. Once power is restored, you can make adjustments to your bed's firmness level again.
